On Tuesday, Israel is set to distribute numerous assault rifles to volunteer response teams in border regions and integrated Jewish-Arab towns, according to a post by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

He mentioned that the first phase would see 4,000 locally-produced rifles distributed, with a subsequent distribution of a minimum of 6,000 more. The volunteers are also expected to receive helmets and protective vests in the future.
This decision by Ben-Gvir comes at a time when Israel is addressing security concerns arising from unauthorized cross-border movements by Palestinians from Gaza and potential internal tensions between the majority Jewish population and the 20% Arab minority, a significant number of whom resonate with Palestinian sentiments.
